Rania Baxter graduated from Chicago School of Massage Therapy in 2004. Since then she has worked in a variety of massage settings both in Illinois and Wisconsin.
She is Nationally Certified and Wisconsin Licensed and holds additional certifications in Pre-Natal and Comfort Touch Massage.
Currently, she is an instructor and student clinic supervisor at Blue Sky School of Massage and working with Heartland Hospice. She also has her own practice where her primary focus is on therapeutic massage.
Rania was born and raised on the North Side of Chicago, where before attending massage school began working in theater at the age of 14.
She received her B.A. in Theater with a minor in Dance and her M.A. in Speech Performing Arts, both from Northeastern Illinois University. She spent 5 years collectively teaching children’s theater and dance and 3 years touring Children’s Theater productions.
Rania owes her love and respect for children and for nurturing touch to her family and some very dear friends. They always had time for just one more hug and they are still letting her stop to look at dragon flies, and pick up seashells on the beach, even when we are running late. She has always loved working with children. The time she has spent teaching and learning from them, has taught her so much. Seeing things through a child’s eyes makes us remember how amazing everything in the world really is. Through nurturing touch we can let them know how amazing they really are.
Why do you feel you would be an asset to the Liddle Kidz Foundation volunteer team?
“I feel that that my love and respect for children and humanity as a whole, and the knowledge that the gift Liddle Kidz can bring to the world one child at a time, will allow me to be a joyful ambassador and
an asset to the volunteer team.”
Why would you like to participate in this outreach event?
“I have always found joy in working with children in any capacity. I have seen first hand how much loving touch and kind words can mean to the development and confidence of a child. To be a part of something bigger than myself and have the opportunity to utilize my skills as a massage therapist giving the gift of touch to children that may never have received it. I hope to feel in a small way that I helped make a difference.”
Relevant qualifications and skills:
I have been working with children in various roles of theater, dance and care giving for many years, and have been able to provide massage to only a few children. However, that experience was positive for the child and me.
There are millions of infants and children worldwide who are struggling to live to their fullest potential. Would you like an opportunity to bring nurturing touch and pediatric massage to orphaned and displaced children around the globe?
Do you wish to share your skills with children who are affected by Cerebral Palsy, AIDS/HIV, landmines, Agent Orange, developmental disabilities, genetic birth defects, mental and emotional trauma?
Just ask yourself . . . can one person make a difference?
Take this moment to make a difference in the life of a child.
