Ashley D'Amico is a licensed massage therapist who specializes in prenatal, infant and geriatric massage. As a semi-recent graduate from the National Massage Therapy Institute in Philadelphia, PA, she is ready to use the knowledge she gained into this fulfilling experience.
In 2004, she was involved in a horrific car accident that changed her world. She was not looking to the future anymore but to the goals for that day. Her life revolved around improving herself and gaining strength and confidence. During her rehabilitation process, she felt the benefits of massage therapy firsthand. Her whole accident gave her a new perspective on life. She now tries to give back to people while not having any regrets. She believes she had a second chance at life and she wants to make the most of it.
Currently, she is writing a memoir with the help of a downtown Los Angeles writer and editor about her tragedy in the hopes that it will have an impact on someone who can relate to it and help them prevail.
Ashley feels she can benefit people of all ages using what she went through to help understand and show compassion. She knows that working with children that have disabilities, are sick, or are perfectly healthy but just need that uplifting touch to mend their spirits is the perfect route for her.
She is honored to be chosen as one of Liddle Kidz ambassadors to Vietnam where she can do just that. She is looking forward to the experience of a lifetime.
Why do you feel you would be an asset to the Liddle Kidz Foundation volunteer team?
I try to always see the glass half full and keep a positive outlook and attitude. I think I can help spread that mindset
if things get tough and the mood shifts in the group. A smile is
infectious, even among your peers.
Why would you like to participate in this outreach event?
I think this outreach event will allow me to grow not only as a massage therapist but as an individual as well. Using my education and practices to pass on affection and warmth through massage to a child or infant in need will be extremely accomplishing to myself. I imagine providing nurturing touch will be such an importance in each child's life, that I am honored and lucky to be responsible for.
There are millions of infants and children worldwide who are struggling to live to their fullest potential. Would you like an opportunity to bring nurturing touch and pediatric massage to orphaned and displaced children around the globe?
Do you wish to share your skills with children who are affected by Cerebral Palsy, AIDS/HIV, landmines, Agent Orange, developmental disabilities, genetic birth defects, mental and emotional trauma?
Just ask yourself . . . can one person make a difference?
Take this moment to make a difference in the life of a child.
Apply now to be part of our next international volunteer team . . .you too, can be a Liddle Kidz Ambassador!
