Rebecca Blake is a San Francisco-based Certified Adult, Pre/Postnatal, Toddler & Kids Yoga Instructor and a Certified Infant Massage Teacher. In 1998, Rebecca found yoga and fell in love with the practice immediately. As she embraced a yogic lifestyle, her sense of connection, inner peace and vitality for life enhanced significantly. She desired to share this benefit with others and began teaching in 2005. Her studies are ongoing with a variety of renowned teachers and styles, including brief studies in India.
Ms. Blake enjoys guiding students through an uplifting, challenging and explorative class format, infusing the class with bits and pieces of all styles studied; including Meditation, Pranayama, Restorative Yoga, Partner Yoga, AcroYoga, Kundalini, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Jivamukti & Anusara. She’s even been known to throw in Tai Chi, Dance or Pilates in her classes. She encourages open minds and open hearts, as she challenges students to go beyond the limits of tradition to follow their own path.
Rebecca has had the opportunity to work with people of all walks of life, including pre/postnatal, baby yoga/developmental movement & infant massage, toddlers, kids, teens, adults & seniors, and in venues ranging from hospitals, Senior Centers, Juvenile Hall, schools, gyms, yoga studios, outdoor venues, private homes and in corporations such as You Tube, Genentech and Lucasfilm. She also teaches at special events and volunteers within her community. She is dedicated to supporting healthy communities and families through yoga, massage, music, dancing, playfulness, laughter and love.
She is a nature lover and enjoys exploring outdoor activities such as hiking, time on the beach, …and practicing yoga outdoors whenever she can.
Relevant qualifications and skills:
“I am a full-time yoga instructor working with people of all ages & populations. I teach in Juvenile Hall to teens, in a Senior Center to 60-88 yr. olds, in corporations, schools, pre/postnatal programs. Since I took my Liddle Kidz Foundation training, I've deepened & enhanced the work I do with infants & crawlers. It caused me to totally restructure current classes to honor the developmental phases. I am teaching Infant Massage Workshops solely, but have also developed a new yoga/parent class for crawlers. I LOVE teaching to all populations, but I'll often hear from parents that I have a "knack" for working with kids. They are super special. They are our little gurus!”
Why do you feel you would be an asset to the Liddle Kidz Foundation volunteer team?
“I already work with caregivers and infants, so that would feel lovingly natural. I could teach some yoga to our volunteer team throughout the trip if they would like it (and never to intrude on the project plans), but it's nice to stretch & do yoga after long flights, carrying heavy bags, etc. I am completely comfortable meeting new people. Any age. Anywhere. I really want to make a difference in the world.”
Why would you like to participate in this outreach event?
“This sounds like an amazing opportunity to do this type of work. I have envisioned myself doing something similar, but I am no where near having the means to put something like this together on my own, so when I saw you did it, I decided I would love to hop on the bus!”
There are millions of infants and children worldwide who are struggling to live to their fullest potential. Would you like an opportunity to bring nurturing touch and pediatric massage to orphaned and displaced children around the globe?
Do you wish to share your skills with children who are affected by Cerebral Palsy, AIDS/HIV, landmines, Agent Orange, developmental disabilities, genetic birth defects, mental and emotional trauma?
Just ask yourself . . . can one person make a difference?
Take this moment to make a difference in the life of a child.
