Natalie Hutter is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist and Certified Infant Massage Teacher (CIMT) from Marquette, located in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
She has been working with children in a variety of settings for over ten years including outpatient clinics, early intervention, the hospital setting, clinics and in several schools.
While attending graduate school, she was a nanny for a close friend and knew she had a special bond with children of all ages and abilities.
Although, she has successfully worked in other areas of Occupational Therapy, including adult traumatic brain injury/stroke rehab/pain management/acute care/in-patient rehab, she always comes back to her first passion of working with children. Natalie now works full-time with kids and enjoys every minute.
Growing up as a 'small town girl' she enjoys the outdoors, adventure and the feeling of community. Providing therapy for children with special healthcare needs from all over the country has allowed her to keep roots planted at home, but also spread her wings to learn about other cultures.
Natalie has lived and worked in Hawaii, California, Alaska and Michigan.
She strives for a lifetime of learning and helping. After completing the Certified Infant Massage Teacher training from the Liddle Kidz Foundation, Natalie is now in the process of building a baby massage program in Marquette.
Her gentle strength and calming nature, create the perfect environment for the healthy development and education of children and families. Also, Natalie's love of play and laughter always brings her to the next adventure in life.
Outside of work, you may find Natalie on her stand-up-paddleboard, playing volleyball, swimming in Lake Superior or playing with her nieces and nephews. She also enjoys biking, hiking, live music, movies and sharing delicious meals with family and friends.
Why do you feel you would be an asset to the Liddle Kidz Foundation volunteer team?
I am very easy to get along with, travel well, have vast pediatric healthcare experience and ease into things easily. I am very eager to bring knowledge, love and hope to other countries, as well as ours. I do not have any of my own children yet but have been told by some, that I have "the gift" with kids. I assume this means that kids like me and instantly feel comfortable with me. I hope this also means that people see that I help children improve in their own lives , encourage independence and confidence.
Why would you like to participate in this outreach event?
It would be an honor to be a part of this program. When Tina Allen talked about this event during Certified Infant Massage Teacher course, I instantly knew this was for me. I have always wanted to participate in an outreach, or mission trip of some kind, but couldn't find one that fit exactly. I wondered how I could bring my knowledge with kids and occupational therapy to the rest of the world, and it seemed there was nothing out there.
After attending the CIMT course, I now have a new outlook on therapy and want to help spread this knowledge and love overseas and as far as I can get. Also, I would like to do this for me. I have not traveled further than central America (Panama) and would love to see more of our amazing world. I would appreciate this opportunity to broaden my world and meet new people. I always say that you never know where you will be next year, so go for your dreams now... and that's what I'm doing.
There are millions of infants and children worldwide who are struggling to live to their fullest potential. Would you like an opportunity to bring nurturing touch and pediatric massage to orphaned and displaced children around the globe?
Do you wish to share your skills with children who are affected by Cerebral Palsy, AIDS/HIV, landmines, Agent Orange, developmental disabilities, genetic birth defects, mental and emotional trauma?
