Angela, or Anj, as she likes to be known, has been a Remedial Massage Therapist for the past six years practicing out of Victoria, Australia.
She specializes in Oncology Massage and has received specific training and certification as a Certified Paediatric Massage Therapist, Certified Infant Massage Teacher and Pediatric Massage for Children with Cancer.
Anj has a broad employment history, all revolving around the desire to make a difference in people and the community.
She truly believes massage is the best way to do this and sees it in the faces of her clients daily.
Circumstances in Anj’s life changed in 2012, which made her reassess what was important in life. She started to put a plan in motion to finish working two jobs and focus solely on her own massage business, travel and enjoying everything that each day has to offer.
Her plans came to fruition in 2014. She loves working for herself, based in a multi-disciplinary health clinic in her home town of Werribee and at a natural therapies centre in Gisborne.
Anj's first memory of providing massage was as a teenager, when she provided percussion/tapotement to her young cousin to assist him in managing his cystic fibrosis.
She knew then, the benefits nurturing touch in any form could provide to someone, particularly a child in need.
She looks forward to being able to share her caring, compassionate nature, her warm smile and her nurturing touch with the participants of the global outreach program.
Why do you feel you would be an asset to the Liddle Kidz Foundation volunteer team?
I believe I can make a difference in the lives of others through my caring and nurturing nature. I love kids and believe I am a positive role model in the lives of children and adults alike. I have a variety of life and work experience having seen the best and worst in others. I like to challenge and stretch myself, and believe this opportunity would be as rewarding for me professionally and personally, as it will be for the children and carers who will benefit from this program. I have a positive outlook, a healthy self confidence, am a good communicator and have a strong self awareness.
Why would you like to participate in this outreach event?
I would like to develop my skills in Pediatric Massage in a variety of different settings. This outreach event provides a unique opportunity to work with others that are as passionate as I am about making a difference in the lives of others, one child at a time. I believe I have much to give, and would love the opportunity to give back to those less fortunate by utilizing the gifts I have.
Relevant qualifications and skills:
