Amanda Converse is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist with specialized education in Touch Therapy for Children with Autism, and a Certified Infant Massage Teacher in the state of Michigan.
Many of Amanda's current therapeutic clients are adults. However, having a a son diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, she has decided to not only steer her practice toward pediatric massage therapy, but pediatric massage therapy focusing on children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders).
Amanda states, “after my pediatric massage certification training with the Liddle Kidz Foundation, and seeing the medical impact massage can have on children with special healthcare needs, my small spark of “personal” interest has turned into a “global” flame of passion.”
Currently residing in Grand Rapids, MI, Amanda is at home with her five children, giant dog, Zane and 2 pygmy goats, which are the start of her collection for a non-profit hobby farm for children with special healthcare needs. She is currently in the process of obtaining her cosmetology license in hopes to spread self-worth and beauty to young girls who have been affected by trauma.
Amanda has had numerous successful opportunities to serve within her own community, around the U.S., Costa Rica, and soon she can add the Philippines to her ever growing list of global outreach.
“I remember that desperate hopeless feeling when I kept being told my only options to help my son were medication,” says Amanda. “I just want to help alleviate as many parents as I can with touch therapy.”
Why do you feel you would be an asset to the Liddle Kidz Foundation volunteer team?
I am passionate about helping children in orphanages, children with special healthcare needs and those who are underserved. I feel as though I can spread love and therapeutic care in those places which often go untouched.
Why would you like to participate in this outreach event?
Recently, I traveled to Costa Rica to provide care within orphanage settings and absolutely loved it! I want to use my therapeutic background to provide nurturing to the lives of others, and to serve those who may have been forgotten. I am extremely passionate about overseas outreach work, and look forward to sharing this once in a lifetime experience with my fellow Liddle Kidz Ambassadors.
There are millions of infants and children worldwide who are struggling to live to their fullest potential. Would you like an opportunity to bring nurturing touch and pediatric massage to orphaned and displaced children around the globe?
Do you wish to share your skills with children who are affected by Cerebral Palsy, AIDS/HIV, landmines, Agent Orange, developmental disabilities, genetic birth defects, mental and emotional trauma?
Just ask yourself . . . can one person make a difference?
